Nuri TOPALOGLU / ‘Tabarruk’ by the Prophet’s Person and Belongings
Abstract: Some of the companions, who loved the Prophet much, used to believe that if they had something belonged to the Prophet that thing would provide them benefit both in this world and the world-to-come. Therefore, there have been some companions who kept a single hair of him, and some who wiped his sweat and mixed it with perfume, and some who rubbed their hands upon his face and body, and some who drank his blood, and some who applied his spit and ablution water to their bodies, and some who kept a property which was touched upon by the Prophet. They all did these things for paying respect or for health reasons. Today, the Prophet Muhammed’s some personal properties are being kept and visited as sacred relics.
