Halil ibrahim KUTLAY / Some Considerations on the Saying -Known as Hadith- ‘Ihtilâfu Ummetî Rahmah’ - -
Abstract: In this article, the well-known maxim, “the disagreement of my community is mercy for them”, will be dealth with. This saying was presented as a sound hadith in some of the Islamic sources and was also accepted by the people as a Prophetic saying. It is proven, in this article, that it is not a hadith. There is no reliable, even unreliable, chain of this hadith. For many hadith scholars, though it is unreliable as far as its chain is concerned, what is meant in this hadith is true in that different opinions and comments of Islamic scholars which are in line with the spirit of the Holy Quran or the authentic hadiths, could be a mercy for Islamic Community.
