Erdinç AHATLI / Approaches of Understanding Hadith in Turkey: The Example of Ahmad Davudoghlu and His Commentary on al-Jami al-Sahih of Muslim
Abstract: The voluminous Turkish Commentary by Ahmad Davudoghlu on al-Jami al-Sahih of al-Muslim is one of the classical hadith works written in Republican period. In this article, first the life and works of the late Davudoglu is mentioned; secondly, the method and classical works he used in this Commentary and his success in translating the hadiths from Arabic into Turkish are dealt with.
