Halis AYDEMiR / The Reliability Coefficient of ‘Umar b. ‘Abdullah b. ‘Urwa: An Application of the Theory of System of Transmission of Hadith Based on Probability Calculations.

Abstract: This study includes an application over transmitters of theory of system of transmission of Hadith based on probability calculations. Transmitter, who is chosen from the second generation after the followers of the companions of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) in order to remove the unknown character, is ‘Umar b. ‘Abdullah b. ‘Urva b. al-Zubayr. The reliability coefficient based on unknown transmitters is calculated by examining all reports with transmission chains issued by him. In the end of the article, the degrees of the words of al-carh and al-ta‘dil used by the critics of Hadith about above mentioned transmitter is compared with the reliability coefficient of the transmitter based on the theory of system of transmission of Hadith based on probability calculations.
