Enbiya YILDIRIM / The Imagination of the Prophet on the Universe
Abstract: In order to understand the stages through which Islamic civilizations has passed, it is important to discover how people in the period of Mecca and Medina conceived the Universe. In this regard, the meanings they attributed to the objects in the sky, natural events and incidents which they could not study in the first hand deserve special attention. In addition, his living in that geography and society as well as being the founder of Islamic civilization, the Prophets perspective on and his evaluations of these issues are particularly important. In this paper, the author attempted to illuminate the nature of the views the prophets hold about natural events as well has their positions in this respect among other people in their periods. Furthermore, the author argues that it should not be counted among the privileges of being prophets to be superior at knowing natural and social sciences and that holding false knowledge or shortage of knowledge on the part of the prophets should not play a negative role about their praised status related to their divine mission.
