Mehmet Sait TOPRAK / Jamali Ishaq b. Mehmed al-Qaramani: His Life and Works

Abstract: In the first place the aim of this study is to introduce the life and works of Cemalî Ihsaq b. Mehmed al-Qaramani who was born in the beginning of the 15th century and died in the end of the same century. There is many scattered and unorganised information in the litera-ture about him. In the side of his Sufi personality Cemali studied hadith and wrote books about Sufism, poem, eloquence and hadith. Unfortunately, due to the lack of organized and accurate information about his life, his works are not as well known as they deserve. Therefore we have decided to first clarify the details of the life and works of Cemaali, the person that lived through the magnificent times (Classical) of the Ottoman Empire.
